The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges against the shooter at Camp Nenuokashi in Minneapolis on Tuesday, claiming he shot and killed Tyrone Mohr, 45, in self-defense.
Witnesses reported Mohr began fighting with the man, physically attacking him and pointing a gun at him, court officials said.
“Under these circumstances, [man’s name] A spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said in a prepared statement: “He did not use deadly force based on a reasonable belief that he was in immediate danger of great bodily harm or death. “They were given the right by law to exercise that right.”
Dale Martin, 37, was also arrested on suspicion of murder. He was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, court officials said.
As previously reported, Minneapolis Police were called to Camp Nenuokashi on Tuesday at approximately 5:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. There they found Moll with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Both the suspected gunman and Martin were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Camp Nenuokashi was scheduled for eviction on Tuesday, but Minneapolis city officials extended that deadline to help camp residents find other housing options.
