You’d think more admins would read Reddit and find the stupid mistakes that are easily avoidable.

For example, like this.

OP works in tech support, and one day the CEO comes in and asks her to work on unlocking a laptop outside the company.

OP said OK because he’s the boss.

One slow day, as I was sitting in my office, my CEO came in and handed me a laptop that was clearly not meant for business use, telling me it had some “very important stuff” on it that I needed right away. , I asked if I could undo and run it.

I hadn’t done anything and he was still signing my paycheck, so I said, “Okay!”

A middle administrator then showed up and told me to work on a good computer. He was to call the person and tell him that it was an unacceptable request.

Then a middle manager came over and asked me to do something, and I said, “You’re second in line,” and the wrap I was repairing (obviously not corporate) I pointed to the top.

The manager didn’t like it and demanded that he call anyone and tell them that it was not acceptable for me to work on personal equipment.

OP followed instructions and brought the manager into conflict with the CEO.

So I took out my cell phone and made a call.

The manager could only hear half of my conversation, but what he heard was something like

“Hey, Tom, I told Bob that I wasn’t allowed to come in here and address your personal matters, and he wanted me to call you and tell you…”

So the CEO tells you to pick up the phone.

“Oh, sure, he’s here, hold on”…and I handed the phone to the manager.

After that, OP had trouble following orders.

The manager started saying “that’s not acceptable…” but then his eyes got really big and the rest of the conversation was “yes, sir” and “no, sir”.

He hung up and yelled, “Why didn’t you say it was the CEO’s laptop?!?!?”

And I said, “You didn’t give me a chance and demanded that I call you right now!!!!”

That may be the case…
