Hey, guys. We live in such tense times and self-care is even more important than it was in his old days IMO. I suffer from an autoimmune disease that is exacerbated by stress, so I try to prioritize self-care that reduces stress.

Something I have found very helpful is keeping a journal. I’ve been using the Silk + Sonder system, which is a physical monthly journal that comes with an app. It’s a bit girly so it’s probably not for everyone, but it worked for me. I like to use lots of colored pens and stickers in my journals, and what can I say? It’s fun! Not only do I track my day, but I also track things like meditation, exercise, diet, social contact efforts, playtime, and other habits I want to maintain. In time, you might decide to unsubscribe, adopt what works for you, and create your own journaling system.

There is no “right” way to journal. It’s as easy as writing down your ideas in a notebook. But of course you can make it as fancy as you want.

There are many types of diaries! It can be much more than a regular diary (we’re not all Samuel Pepys). With the new year approaching and many people looking to adopt new healthy habits into the new year, why not try a little journaling? I found some ideas on YouTube. Here we focus on analog journals. Sure, digital journals are nice and convenient, but there’s something about putting pen to paper that makes old neural pathways click.

  • Book diary: A place for readers to record books they have read, books they will read, and reviews.
  • art magazines and sketchbooks
  • Dream diary, write down your dreams
  • Travelogue for those exploring new places
  • Bird observation diary for bird watchers to record the birds they see
  • Tarot diary for people who have the habit of drawing cards every day
  • A gardening journal for those interested in gardening.

The list is endless.
