Discussions about reducing consumption and investing wisely in furniture are not new, but increased interest in sustainability has brought them to the forefront. But there’s another simple and practical reason to invest in quality heirlooms instead of looking for a quick fix. It has to do with decoration. Traditional pieces with a solid structure can continue to live in your home without looking out of place, even after several redecorations. Hilary Duff’s front door is a perfect example.
The actress’ entryway decor includes an antique mahogany sideboard with large open storage and closed cabinetry. The long, flat top has space for ornaments, vases, books, etc. Above the table, a large classic circular mirror reflects and makes the space appear larger. To the side, a long, slender antique chair gives the space an open, stylish feel.
When this part of the house was first decorated in 2019, the color scheme of the entryway was bright and cheerful with dopamine decor. Decorations included brightly colored abstract paintings, houseplants that stretched throughout the space, and an array of brightly colored art books. Pink, blue and purple carpeting on the floor complements the bright colors of the decor.
According to the photos, by 2022 the decor had changed to a more cozy entryway feel, but Hilary’s furniture remained the same. A neutral vase with eucalyptus leaves and an orange and white rug were added, but the open-concept chair and sideboard remained. As the decor changes, antique furniture transforms Hilary’s entryway into a timeless room.
