Mysuru police also added that Manoranjan was in touch with the personal secretary of Congress leader Pratap Sinha, who had issued passes to both the accused. “We are waiting for a response from the MP’s office to confirm that it has issued passes to Manoranjan at least three times,” the officer said. Previously issued passes were said to have been used to scout visitor galleries before the invasion.

Manoranjan’s mother, Shiraja D, told reporters on Thursday morning that Manoranjan had left for Mysore three days before the break-in. “He told us he was going to Bangalore. Meanwhile, Manoranjan’s alleged police ties came to light after a social media account affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that he was a member of the Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the Communist Party of India. BJP party workers in Mysuru shared pictures from the SFI convention on social media platforms and claimed that D Manoranjan, accused in the Parliament security breach, was a member of the SFI. They alleged that they were trying to malign the Bharatiya Janata Party and MP Pratap Sinha by using their pass to the Congress as voters of Mysuru-Kodagu constituency. They even called for a ban on SFI.

However, the Mysore city police denied these claims and clarified that the SFI had clarified that the person in the photo was not Manoranjan but SFI Mysore district president TS Vijay Kumar.
