Intel’s new Core Ultra chips are part of its Meteor Lake product line, which omits the “i” nomenclature, but features dedicated silicon to power AI, runs cooler, It is more power efficient and will be included in many mobile computers starting today.

The centerpiece promise of Intel’s Core Ultra mobile processors is what the company claims is the “best AI PC experience” available on a laptop computer.

“Intel Core Ultra is the first processor built on Intel 4 process technology and represents the company’s biggest architectural change in 40 years,” Intel said.

“Working, learning, streaming, gaming, creating on the go, and more, people want to improve PC performance and battery life while taking full advantage of the AI capabilities increasingly found in operating systems and applications. AI PCs are a new generation of personal computers that meet this demand. Dedicated AI acceleration capabilities are distributed across a central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and neural processing unit (NPU) architecture. The Intel Core Ultra is Intel’s most AI-enabled and power-efficient client processor ever.”

But the new Core Ultra chips not only dedicate silicon space to AI, but also promise to be significantly more power efficient and run cooler than Intel’s previous chips. Power and heat are two areas where Intel and Asus are far behind Apple and its M-series chips, and the Core Ultra products will likely fill that gap.

Intel says its new Evo Edition chips with Core Ultra offer “the best overall laptop experience” without compromising performance. The company claims that the chip’s operating temperature has been lowered and power efficiency has been improved, giving it more than 10 hours of real-world battery life. It also supports instant wake and fast charging.

According to Intel, the Core Ultra series leverages built-in Arc GPU technology with up to 8 X cores, AI-based X supersampling, DX12 Ultimate support, and up to 2x graphics performance compared to previous generations It is said that they are doing so. The GPU includes support for the latest graphics features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing, mesh shading, AV1 encoding and decoding, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1 20G.

The processor itself features up to 16 cores (6 P cores, 8 E cores, 2 LP E cores) and 22 threads, and a maximum turbo of up to 5.1 gigahertz. It also supports up to 65 GB LP5/x and up to 96 GB DDR5 maximum memory capacity.

Consumer devices equipped with Intel Core Ultra include Acer, ASUS, Dell, Dynabook, Gigabyte, Google Chromebook, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft Surface, MSI and Samsung.
