ASUS is beefing up its teaser engine for the upcoming ROG Phone, providing insight into when it will be released and more.Taiwanese company Posted On X, the ROG Phone 8 series is scheduled to be announced at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 8th (via GSMArena). Another standout post stems from a Weibo post that reveals the phone’s release date for China as his January 16th while showing off the display changes.
The attached teaser video shows a model standing within the frame of the previous ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, before enlarging the screen and shrinking the bezels. So consumers can expect to see far more immersive screens from ASUS’ flagships next year, alongside punch-hole selfie cameras. Past generations of ROG Phones had thick bezels at the top and bottom of the display, taking up most of the screen.

This new crisp look at the black and gray ROG Phone 8 showcases a new square camera array and back panel. ASUS seems to be moving away from its previous futuristic look and moving in a cleaner direction with the back of its devices. Furthermore, the Republic of Gamer logo appears to be glowing, so we can still expect RGB lighting.
It’s new that ASUS is teasing more cameras, as they don’t seem to have been a high priority in previous models. The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate used the same 50MP primary lens that last year’s ROG Phone 6 used. The brand has refined the tuning to improve shots taken in different situations, but these changes were minimal steps rather than leaps and bounds.
Almost a week ago, we started receiving teasers about possible upcoming changes to the ROG Phone series. At that time, the new chunky-looking housing array for the triple lenses appeared in shadow. Additionally, GSMArena adds that the device could ship with Android 14 soon, and there are rumors that suggest 65W fast charging as a potential spec.
Additionally, it has been officially stated that ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro will benefit from Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at launch.
