Verizon silently adds prepaid plans for mobile phone smartwatches

[ad_1]

Finally it happened. Although there’s been no official announcement, Verizon has been adding support for cellular smartwatches to its prepaid plans for several weeks now.

This is good news for anyone looking to add a cellular smartwatch plan without being locked into a postpaid plan. For a while, verizon charges $10 per month for its “Prepaid Connected Smartwatch” plan.

Spotted by 9to5google, the new plan for the cellular smartwatch comes in two variants, each priced at $10 per month. First, the standalone connected smartwatch’s prepaid plans offer unlimited 5G or 4G LTE data (15GB of high-speed data) nationwide, as well as unlimited calls and texts.

On the other hand, the Number Share Mobile prepaid plan offers a similar plan, but customers pair their smartwatch with their smartphone to share their number.

As mentioned above, both prepaid plans for cellular smartwatches cost $10 per line, plus taxes and fees. Verizon’s website lists several things, including the fact that prepaid accounts are limited to 10 phone lines (including smartphones, base phones, tablets, and mobile hotspots) and 30 total lines (including phone lines and Connected Smartwatch lines). Some notes are listed.

More importantly, Apple Watch Series 3 is not eligible for standalone plans and is limited to 30 total lines (including mobile lines and connected device lines). Finally, Palm devices and Hum are not eligible for prepaid service.

Note that it is also possible to activate a smartwatch you already own with a prepaid connected smartwatch plan, but you will need to check if it is compatible. verizon Network on the Bring Your Own Device page.
